Committees of the House  I am, of course, referring to the latest Liberal scandal, one that culminated with the head of Sustainable Development Technology Canada, SDTC, Leah Lawrence, resigning. The abrupt end to her tenure came amid severe allegations of mismanagement and corruption, directed not only at her, but also at her executive. These allegations were brought forth by whistle-blowers who reached out to both the government and the Privy Council Office.

Veterans Affairs committee  I served in Quebec following training in Regina, and then transferred to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where I was living when I resigned in December, 1984. During my time in the RCMP, I had a variety of assignments ranging from the enforcement of federal statutes to rural provincial policing duties. I think I was a good cop, and I do not regret my time in the force.

Government Operations committee  You claim to want to take a leadership role in it, and yet your chief information officer resigned this week. Do you take personal responsibility for the lack of direction, the lack of leadership that she required in an effort to provide the entire framework of technology within the public service for Canadians?

Public Services and Procurement  That is corruption, yet it did not meet the level for the minister to call on her to resign. If that level of corruption does not suffice calling for a resignation, what does?

Sport  We can legitimately ask ourselves whether the government is protecting its little friends at the expense of the truth and justice that we, as citizens, deserve. The number of people responsible for this mess who have resigned from sports organizations and Sport Canada is alarming. There is a crisis in the world of sport, and everyone knows it. Frankly, the survivors deserve greater consideration from people in the Liberal government who are responsible for sport.

Carbon Pricing  The Prime Minister is responsible for bringing record-level hunger to Ontario. I understand that the self-proclaimed socialist environment minister has threatened to resign if the bill passes, but Canadian farmers need this carve-out immediately. This will make food prices cheaper, because if we are taxing the farmers who grow the food, we are taxing Canadians who buy the food.

Industry committee  I don't really hear a good rationale for that from my perspective, but I would invite other members to provide that rationale. My understanding is that she has resigned from the board, and the minister has accepted her resignation. If that's in effect as of December 1, what can be gained? Anyway, regardless of that, in terms of the timeline, I think there are two arguments that I've made here for why this committee would have to justify the invite to have her come and appear here, given the first motion that we all agreed to.

Public Services and Procurement  We will await her report on this matter, which will inform whether further action is necessary. Finally, the decisions of the chair of SDTC's board and of its president to resign were personal ones. It is for us to follow due process and await the results of the AG's audit before making any pronouncements. Taking a step back, in consideration of the facts of the matter, as I have laid them out, I am confident that we are on the right path.

Public Services and Procurement  Despite the well-documented corruption and mismanagement involving tens upon tens of millions of dollars of taxpayers' money, no one has been held accountable. The chair resigned but not at the request of the minister, and the minister continues to stand behind the corrupt SDTC board. Why? Why is the minister more interested in protecting Liberal insiders who got rich improperly at the expense of taxpayers rather than rooting out the rot and corruption at the Liberals' green slush fund?

Public Services and Procurement  His hand-picked board chair was caught funnelling $220,000 to her own company and then paid herself $120,000. Then she and the CEO both resigned in disgrace. We learned yesterday that another board member funnelled millions of taxpayer dollars to not one, not two, not three, but four companies that she personally had an interest in.

Industry committee  Verschuren was in fact appointed to the SDTC billion-dollar Green slush fund by the current Liberal government and has resigned in disgrace, so in terms of conflict of interest, the government review that they commissioned has determined that the conflict of interest policies were not followed. I think it's very important that for that period of time they reviewed, to Mr.

Industry committee  Guilbeault worked for us until he was elected in 2019. In fact, on June 17, 2019, we received a letter of resignation in the mail from Mr. Guilbeault stating that he was running for political office. We therefore terminated our business relations with Mr. Guilbeault as of that date.

Industry committee  Thank you to all of the witnesses today. The chief information officer of Canada, Catherine Luelo, recently resigned from her position. She commented recently that the public service needs to build “credibility” in respect to a fractured IT system with up to two-thirds of government departments being poor at managing information technology systems.

Veterans Affairs committee  One of my VAC things is a hearing injury that happened at the depot. When it was released, Commissioner Zaccardelli resigned. Here was an unknown female—I was a corporal when I left—writing a book that's questioning whether there are some issues in an organization that is the Canadian identity. I didn't know whether somebody was going to knock on the door with a subpoena or the RCMP was going to come.
