Subcommittee on International Human Rights committee  I certainly support you, Mr. Broadbent, in terms of this conference. Definitely, it's quite interesting too. It depends on the content of this conference and the fact that the offer is coming from Canada to Havana to organize something like that. It could be quite interesting to see the reaction coming from the Cuban government, how far they are open to talk to Canada, not just about friendship and economic cooperation, but about sensitive things as well.

Subcommittee on International Human Rights committee  I still feel that the previous question wasn't answered totally, because there is as well the part about the possibility of using offshore development assistance as a tool in promoting human rights and democracy. Subcommittee on International Human Rights committee  Thank you very much, sir. I am very happy to hear that you will visit the most beautiful country in Europe. You are most welcome there. Allow me to give one small example from the time before the Velvet Revolution in my country. There was a very symbolic gesture made by the former President of France, who was visiting Czechoslovakia at that time, when he decided to host a very unofficial breakfast at the French embassy with the representatives of dissidents in Czechoslovakia.

Subcommittee on International Human Rights committee  Thank you very much, sir. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for the extraordinary privilege to address you on this very important issue of the protection and promotion of human rights. I would like to remind you that I come from a country that has suffered for over 40 years under the very tough totalitarian regime of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.
