Public Safety committee  Clearly there has been a reduction in the pediatric age group and in overall firearm deaths. When I first looked at Canadian firearm mortality statistics from 1991, there were 1,400 firearm deaths in Canada. Recently those numbers are down to around 800 firearm deaths.
