Citizenship and Immigration committee  The applicant can have someone present with them during the interview, whether it be counsel or some other representative. It's simply that the other individual would be asked not to participate in the interview.

Citizenship and Immigration committee  As it currently stands and as it would continue under this amendment, during the interview, a foreign national can already have someone present, counsel or another representative. The only matter is, however, that the representative will be asked to not participate in the interview process.

Citizenship and Immigration committee  I'll take that one, if I may. To answer the question that was raised, indeed as it currently stands and as would continue to happen, the CSIS Act ensures that the information collected during the interview is focused on what's required to provide advice to the immigration officials in order to assess the application at hand.
