Canadian Heritage committee  When you designate Remembrance Day as a legal holiday according to the Holidays Act, you put it on the same status as Canada Day and Victoria Day. I think it follows that it would be treated as a statutory holiday, much as these two days already are. If you treat it the same way, the intent would be that it would become a statutory holiday, and I would hate to see having to designate Remembrance Day as a legal holiday as the means to increase the visibility or importance of the day.

Canadian Heritage committee  Thanks very much. With regard to the process that we follow for making democratic decisions within the Legion, as Mr. White said, everything originates with our local branches. We are very much a bottom-up organization. They are the ones who develop the policies that will eventually get enacted and voted upon and put into practice on a national level.
