Official Languages committee  There's no doubt that, if that's how it worked, the likelihood of integration and retention would be higher. That said, we need to recognize that we are in a bilingual province and that it's up to us to ensure the retention of newcomers. For example, we give students from Africa extra English training to make sure they stay.

Official Languages committee  Thank you. At the risk of repeating myself, as I said in my presentation, there should be more funding to help international students settle here. That would be a good way to improve things. We believe there should be a new pathway to permanent residence specifically for international college and university graduates outside Quebec.

When I mentioned the 36%, it referred to the percentage of students who apply to our programs and are successful in obtaining a study permit.

Obviously, as I emphasized in my remarks, my perspective is that of a professional and technical training institution, namely an institution that aims to address the labour needs and required skills for businesses and organizations on the ground. Official Languages committee  Mr. Chair, honourable members of the committee, thank you for inviting us to share with you the experience of the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick, or CCNB, regarding immigration and increased francophone immigration to Canada in particular.
