Excise Tax Act  That is a good thing, so today is a good day, when Bill C-323 was encapsulated in Bill C-69, the budget Implementation bill, and it is something, again, that New Democrats have led the charge on. Regarding the Excise Tax Act, I think back to my predecessors John Duncan, who was an MP in this place for 18 years, and James Lunney, who was an MP for 15 years, both Conservatives, with a total of about 33 years that they sat in this place. They did get one bill passed, and it was actually to change the Excise Tax Act to remove the excise tax on jewellery so people could get their diamonds more cheaply.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the member opposite seems to have a really bad case of political amnesia. He always wants to change the focus and forgets that it is actually nine years of the Prime Minister and his party in power. They are in power for now; I hope a Conservative government will be back in office in short order.

Privilege  Madam Speaker, if members think ethics and integrity are important, I think most Canadians would be stunned at the fact that we would have to say, “six strikes and he should be out”. We are still here, six strikes in on the Speaker of the House, over and over again, as the Liberal MPs mock and just say, “Why not ten?”

Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act  Mr. Speaker, it is an honour to rise here in the House and have many of my colleagues join to listen as I contribute some points to the debate we are having here tonight, particularly on our Conservative amendment. Many would argue it would be common sense. I look forward to getting into that tonight a little bit more.

Prohibition of the Export of Horses by Air for Slaughter Act  Mr. Speaker, I find it interesting to rise today on Bill C-355, an act to prohibit the export by air of horses for slaughter. I think it is important in this House, whenever we debate legislation that is going to impact the livelihoods of thousands of Canadians, that we ensure that legislation is based on sound science and data from experts, and not on a motion.

A copy of the said plan was also recorded in the Canada Lands Surveys Records in Ottawa, Ontario, under number 104838 CLSR on January 7, 2016.

Procedure and House Affairs committee  I'm just waiting for it to come into my inbox to make sure that it corresponds exactly to what I have, Madam Chair. I'd like to move that the motion be amended by adding, “(c) That the Committee seek additional resources to meet for two extra hours each week until the above witness list is exhausted” and by replacing, in paragraph (a), “October 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2023:” with “October 16, 23, 30, 2023, and November 6, 2023:”.

Finance committee  We need to get this happening here. I made the comment that it's not just a crisis in St. John's. St. John's is a holding point, as you well know, for people from all over the province, so we really have to manage that in new ways with wraparound supports, mental health services, etc.

Finance committee  Also from our standing committee, we have MP Gabriel Ste-Marie from Joliette, Quebec, and MP Eric Duncan from Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry in Ontario. All the way from the west coast, we have Richard Cannings, who is from the Okanagan in B.C., but Richard lived in St. John's in the 1970s, I understand, for a number of years.

Online Streaming Act  Madam Speaker, normally, there would not be much debate in the House when we talk about making updates to the Broadcasting Act, which came into effect in 1991. At face value, most Canadians would say that a lot has changed since then. A little thing called the Internet came along, and most would agree.
