Honourable members of Parliament,
I am very grateful to you for the opportunity to appear before you today to talk about Canada's science and technology policy in the context of health research.
I appreciate the opportunity to present to the members of this committee on how CIHR contributes to the government's vision for Canada to become a world leader in science and technology.
Let me start with a brief overview of CIHR. The Canadian Institutes of Health Research is the Government of Canada's agency to fund health research and training. Our mission is to create new scientific knowledge and to translate that knowledge into improved health outcomes, a stronger health care system, and economic and social benefits for Canadians.
