This enactment amends the Employment Insurance Act to extend the qualifying period of an insured person by the number of weeks that the person was not employed in insurable employment because the person was residing with their spouse or common law partner who was employed outside of Canada in or with the Canadian Forces or the federal public administration. An extension under this new provision may result in a qualifying period of up to 260 weeks.
