That is actually a very good question. Obviously, we would like to have access to other international markets. Free trade is in our DNA. However, the challenge with Mercosur is that its animal health and biosecurity standards are much lower than ours.
One of the things we're asking for is that the Government of Canada put a lot more emphasis on raising standards in that region to make sure, if these countries are allowed access to our market, that their products meet Canadian standards. We also need to establish a very strong framework that says that, if they aren't able to meet our standards, we won't buy their products. It's a very simple issue.
If they can't guarantee our pork producers that they're going to do it, we'll have another story to tell, which will probably be similar to that of the beef producers. It is essential for us to be sure that the protection of our international markets is based on Canadian standards, so that people know that their pork products meet the best animal health standards in the world.
