I agree with you: We are too dependent on imported products. During the winter, there are valid reasons for this. However, when it's summer and we see a lot of imported products on store shelves across the country, it's cause for concern.
With the integration and centralization of their supply chains, large retail chains can increasingly easily import products that are grown elsewhere at lower cost, because the environmental, social and governance standards in those regions are not the same as here. This has the effect of stifling local producers.
