I call the meeting to order.
Welcome to meeting number 42 of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food.
Today's meeting is taking place in a hybrid format, pursuant to the Standing Orders. Members are attending in person in the room and remotely using the Zoom application.
Before we continue, I'd like to ask all in-person participants to consult the guidelines written on the cards on the table. These measures are in place to help prevent audio and feedback incidents and to protect the health and safety of all participants, including our interpreters. You'll also notice a QR code on the card, which links to a short awareness video.
I'd like to take a moment to make some comments for the benefit of the witnesses and members. Before speaking, please wait until I recognize you by name or until you are asked a question directly by a member. For those participants on video conference, click the microphone icon to activate your mic, and please mute yourself when you're not speaking. For those on Zoom, at the bottom of your screen you'll see a selection for the appropriate channel for interpretation: floor, English or French. For those in the room, you can use the earpiece and select the desired channel.
I'd like to remind all witnesses that committee members may ask questions in either French or English. If you need interpretation, please take a moment now to prepare your earpiece and select the listening channel you need in advance in order to take full advantage of the time allocated.
This is a reminder that all comments should be made through the chair. For members in the room, if you wish to speak, please raise your hand. For members on Zoom, please use the “raise hand” function. The clerk and I will try to manage the speaking order to the best of our ability.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the committee is resuming its study on food security in the face of global instability.
I'd like to welcome our witnesses who are joining us today.
From the Montreal Economic Institute, we have Renaud Brossard and Gabriel Giguère. From the Grain Farmers of Ontario, we have Jeff Harrison. From Agri-Food Analytics Lab, we have Sylvain Charlebois and Olivia Romaniw.
Welcome.
We will start with Agri-Food Analytics Lab. You have five minutes.
