I need clarification. Particularly which section of the bill is he referring to?

The Chair Liberal Deb Schulte

We're on clause 9.

Mike Bossio Liberal Hastings—Lennox and Addington, ON

Ed Fast Conservative Abbotsford, BC

Yes.

Mike Bossio Liberal Hastings—Lennox and Addington, ON

—in clause 9, we're replacing line 35 on page 7—

The Chair Liberal Deb Schulte

Okay. So if there's no other discussion on it—

Mike Bossio Liberal Hastings—Lennox and Addington, ON

We're just replacing once again “environmental” with “sustainable development”.

The Chair Liberal Deb Schulte

—can we move to approve?

All those in favour? Anyone against?

Linda Duncan NDP Edmonton Strathcona, AB

What was that about a drafting question about this?

The Chair Liberal Deb Schulte

We're right in the middle of the vote.

Linda Duncan NDP Edmonton Strathcona, AB

No, I'm asking a drafting question.

If it says a committee of the Senate or the House, if the Senate decides to review it, does that mean we can't review it in the House? It says “or” not “and/or”.

Mike Bossio Liberal Hastings—Lennox and Addington, ON

I don't see.... It's either-or.

Linda Duncan NDP Edmonton Strathcona, AB

Well, your change says, “of the Senate or the House”.

Mike Bossio Liberal Hastings—Lennox and Addington, ON

—“House of Commons”.

The Chair Liberal Deb Schulte

Let's just read it again, from line 35. It says:

The administration of this Act shall, every five years after the day on which this section comes into force, stand referred to any committee of the Senate or the House of Commons that normally considers matters relating to

Mike Bossio Liberal Hastings—Lennox and Addington, ON

—“sustainable development,”—

The Chair Liberal Deb Schulte

or of both Houses of Parliament, that may be designated

So, it's the House of Commons or both Houses of Parliament.

Linda Duncan NDP Edmonton Strathcona, AB

I'm just asking a legislative drafting question.

The Chair Liberal Deb Schulte

I don't see that being an issue, but if you think it is....

Linda Duncan NDP Edmonton Strathcona, AB

I'm asking the legislative clerk. I want to make sure we have the opportunity.
