I would like to raise two points that echo the comments made by my colleague from the Bloc Québécois.
First, I would like to see a breakdown of the amounts. If we can minimize the costs to taxpayers, we should do so.
Second, sometimes during these trips, there are interpretation costs. So I would like to know whether these costs would be included. I think that the costs for interpretation from English to French would be quite significant. On our end, we think that this isn't essential.
In short, I tend to agree with my colleague that we should see about reducing expenses. Like a number of my colleagues here today, I've attended the COP before, albeit with a somewhat more limited budget. I'm quite open to the idea of setting a cap on this amount and lowering the costs, if possible, for Canadians.
