Thank you, Mr. Chair.
Gentlemen, thank you for joining us today.
This is an extremely important topic. We are only at the beginning of our study, but the witnesses who have appeared before the committee to talk about artificial intelligence seem to have very wide-ranging opinions. Some have talked about the very risky and dangerous side of artificial intelligence, while others have been very positive about the benefits it has in store for us.
I would like to draw a parallel between artificial intelligence and what we are seeing with social media. Private businesses have been allowed to directly develop social media at breakneck speed, with a kind of artificial intelligence baby that analyzes everything we look at to try to keep our attention focused on these networks at all times. Young people are experiencing unprecedented levels of stress, largely due to this.
How would you compare the early days of artificial intelligence with social media and with the superintelligence that is currently being developed, which you spoke about earlier?
