Platforms are trying to implement tools. For example, YouTube requires users to say whether or not their video content was generated using artificial intelligence. People are expected to be transparent when they publish their content on some platforms, such as Meta, Facebook, Instagram and so on. However, this mechanism almost always relies on people’s goodwill.
In our reflection on the tools that we need, we need to ask ourselves if we want to force the issue. Members will recall that a person is expected to be at least 13 years old to have a social media account, even though we know very well the reality is quite different. We have seen that some countries are starting to introduce regulations to manage things better. Perhaps these platforms should be forced to apply their user policies or terms and conditions.
