Ms. Bednar, thank you for writing The Big Fix. I would consider that a must read. I just want to commend your book, which has an excellent public policy perspective on many of these issues.
I would like to ask you specifically about the concept of algorithmic pricing, because I think it is actually new for a lot of us. We are, as consumers, already familiar with examples of surge pricing or variable pricing when we purchase an airline ticket, for example. Why should we be more worried about algorithmic pricing? How is AI changing the way businesses set prices for consumers today?
Then I have a follow-up question. What are the ways then that we can help protect consumers, their privacy and their pocketbooks?
