When I was a city councillor, I served as the councillor responsible for my municipality's downtown area. I think that revitalizing downtown areas naturally depends on service-oriented businesses, such as restaurants, so that downtown cores remain dynamic and vibrant with plenty of activity and people are drawn to live there or visit them.
