They're not entirely consistent, because in the last Parliament, you'll remember that the government proposed a national securities regulator to protect, in part, the retirement savings of Canadian citizens, but the NDP was against that bill because they thought it infringed on the division of powers and the jurisdiction of the provincial governments.
