A lot of research is being conducted on desistance from crime, factors that make a person who has committed a crime head in a new direction, which is the complete opposite of what happens when people are imprisoned. What enables criminals to have a family life and a social network is contact with the community and the ability to get reintegrated. These are values that go beyond the boundaries of any particular religious group.
