From our perspective, when we applied for our funding, we were told that we could apply for up to $6.3 million over five years. Housing and infrastructure called it a negotiation process. Almost a year of back-and-forth went on between us and somebody at housing and infrastructure, and it got to the point that the funding ended up being $5.2 million over four years because so much time was spent negotiating. I'm still not sure what we were negotiating.
The $3 million that was sent back to treasury could have made up for the lost year. This is just one example. Nobody reached out to us before they sent that money back to say, “Hey, could you use a few extra bucks?” It did not happen. To my understanding, other organizations were not contacted either. This was very frustrating to hear.
