Before somebody is released from the Canadian Armed Forces, their situation should be looked at.
One thing I don't think is taken into consideration is the lack of social support when somebody takes the uniform off. I had a veteran say to me one time that when he was still serving, he had a family, and when he was released, he became an orphan.
If we're talking about a single person leaving the Canadian Armed Forces who may not have a large group of natural supports, such as family members, then they're not going to be successful once they get out of the military if they don't have a support system in place. This is something I've always felt strongly about. They shouldn't be released if red flags are there.
