Chair, what just happened in this meeting was just really atrocious, the disrespect directed towards the chair, and the disrespect that's directed towards our members here. Ms. Sidhu and Dr. Eyolfson couldn't even get a word in before someone called a point of privilege or a point of order. I find it extremely disrespectful.
If we want to run a functional committee, I ask people to allow members around the table to speak before you call anything. Can we please let that happen?

I tell you right now, I have chaired committees in the past. I have worked very well with both sides. I'm very fair. I tell you right now, the way I see it right now is that if we can work together in a very transparent and fair manner, we will be able to achieve things, because health is one of the most important topics and issues to Canadians' lives. If we, as members, do not take this seriously.... I know Canadians are watching right now.
You can raise as many points of order as you want. You can raise as many questions of privilege as you want. I will make sure that I entertain you. At the same time, I would like to see some work done here in this committee as well.

One thing I want to tell the members is that the chair of the committee does not have the power to rule on questions of privilege. Only the Speaker has that power. The question of privilege that you want to bring forward has to be recent, not from four or five weeks before. If it has to do with what we are doing today, I would entertain that.
