They're long-suffering analysts, yes. All analysts are long-suffering, I think, but we appreciate their work nonetheless.
The result will be a draft report written by the analysts. The committee has no clarity on how long that may take. Then the committee is required to actually review it, debate it and go through it line by line. The opposition could potentially write a dissenting report. Any member could write their own report as well. As I understand it, the committee has completed several studies but has not finished the reports. It also remains unclear which studies the committee would prioritize in its review.
Therefore, again, I invite Dr. Eyolfson to explain himself as to how this study will address what he has described as a pressing medical “emergency” in a certain part of the country, because I'm not seeing that, and I'm not seeing the tangible benefits to Canadians by the committee conducting the study. If I'm wrong, I'm open to being wrong, and I'm open to saying that. Unlike some ministers in this government, I'm open to saying that.
