We'll call the meeting to order. We will stay in public because we have one election to run. I will turn it over to our clerk because she must preside over those.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the first vice-chair must be a member of the official opposition.

I am now prepared to receive motions for the election of the first vice-chair.

It is my pleasure to nominate Alexandrine Latendresse for the position of vice-chair of this committee.

Excellent. Now we've got a good working committee.

We're moving on. We have committee business, so with the permission of the committee we'll go in camera now. Do I have to suspend to go in camera?

I think—correct me if I'm wrong, and I'll defer to the clerk on this one—we have to present a motion to appoint a chair of the Subcommittee on Private Members' Business.

I move that, pursuant to Standing Order 91.1(1), Mr. Dave MacKenzie be appointed chair of the subcommittee.

For those of you who don't know, Harold used to be the chair. Harold will not be chairing the committee any more. He's stepping down; it's too much for him.

From our side, it has to be a government member, so we're putting Mr. MacKenzie's name forward.

The committee deals with all private members' bills that come forward, to determine whether they're votable or non-votable.
