We're facing an economic crisis in Canada. The government has introduced a number of very aggressive policies to build across the country. As we've asked time and time again, with what workforce will we accomplish that? We need skilled labour. We need low-skilled labour. We need entrepreneurs. We need the tax system in Canada to be attractive, to draw the best and the brightest to Canada to set up shop here.
Matt Holmes, my executive VP at the Chamber of Commerce, wrote an op-ed last spring saying that it's time to start recruiting top American talent. It happened during the Vietnam War, of course. It's happened many times before. We have a lot to offer, but I don't think we're thinking big enough on immigration. I think we should be thinking bigger. Certainly, from the business perspective, there is no doubt a loss of economic activity. There's been a loss of opportunity for the Canadian economy as a result of all of this.
