Thank you, Madam Chair.
Thank you to the witnesses for being here today.
I want to step back and talk a bit about the history in Venezuela, so my question will probably be to Mr. Colombié.
I want to talk about the state of the free press and how it has diminished over the years. Perhaps we can go back three presidents, through not only Maduro but also Chávez and, before Chávez, President Caldera. In 1967 he brought in a constitution, and it was stated that Venezuela was one of the more stable Latin American countries.
Can you briefly describe the state of the free press under Caldera, then under Chávez—when it diminished quite a bit—and then the current state now? Then I'll end with one last question.
