This subcommittee has done a lot of studies on Haiti, but so has the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development. Let's talk about the elephant in the room. If we resolve the ammunition and weapons supply issue on the island, we solve almost 90% of the problem. Armed groups will no longer have access to ammunition and weapons, and will therefore no longer be able to terrorize people.
The power they currently have comes directly from their access to weapons, 95% of which come from the U.S. Are you talking about that? Is your organization aware of that?
Even though this isn't your main expertise, you're still on the ground. Can you share what you know about that?
Is it true that solving this arms supply issue would solve a large part of the problem?
