You made a very good point about focusing on the needs of the clients or the individuals who find themselves caught up in the system, whether that's the criminal system or civil system, or our refugee system. You said it's not a question of whether lawyers can make a living, but isn't that a component of having a good legal aid system? You heard from other colleagues here that they're getting paid one-third of what lawyers in Ontario are getting for the same services, that in fact you don't get the very best legal representation on occasion. Lawyers basically have no choice, but they have to look at the bottom line somewhere along the way.
