If CPIC and JOIN are up to date, there should be no reason not to acquire that information. We do it on a daily basis. Actually, I call it protocol. Every time we arrest an accused, we do a CPIC and JOIN check to obtain this information to find out if we can release an accused, such as on a promise to appear, or if we have to, depending on the circumstances, present the person before a justice of the peace to see if the person will seek bail.
