The choice is important, because as a member of a first nation, for example, I need to recognize my culture. The military culture is really unique. Going into the civilian world, my fear is that at some point there's going to be a lack of understanding of this culture to really grasp the experience a person went through. For me, choice also means respecting the culture the person comes from. The francophone and anglophone cultures are also different.
