Mr. Verreault, it's rare for an opposition member to point out something positive in what the federal government has done. Although, this industry report actually comes from you, not from the federal government.
It's fair to say that many people in the forestry sector and the politicians involved in this issue have been waiting for this type of proposal. I think it's good for everyone to see that the government's response seems to be favourable. Like you, I hope that this $10‑billion investment fund will be set up.
I don't want this to be a discussion among Quebeckers. However, we have to see how we can move this forward in a context where Quebec City sometimes has reservations around measures that may appear to infringe on jurisdictions. I understand what you're saying, and it makes perfect sense to say that an investment fund should be tied to a 10‑year supply guarantee.
However, I would like to know how we can be facilitators and how we can present this in a way that's acceptable to the Government of Quebec. What actions could we take very quickly? Perhaps we could benefit from an election campaign. I don't know.
