In an article in The Hill Times on June 3, you highlighted that Canada “remains heavily reliant on imports—primarily from the United States—to meet a significant portion of its biofuels needs.”
After years of uncertainty and revisions, and proponents telling the Liberals what they need to do to make this policy flexible, workable, feasible and practical if they want to keep these regs in, which Conservatives have committed to scrapping, do you have comments on why Canada has to rely on the United States—which is insane given that they're also our number one customer and competitor—to meet those requirements? What kinds of adjustments could be made, particularly in terms of reducing legislative, regulatory and policy barriers, to incent that production and development and those exports at home?
