A friend of mine recently sent me a message. He had just crossed the Champlain bridge, something he hadn't done in a long time since he lives in the Laurentians. He was surprised to see that all the signs were bilingual. I told him it was federal government signage and it had to comply with the Official Languages Act. He was surprised and angry.
It's the same in the metro; all the advertising for COVID-19 and everything else is posted in both languages. That's what the Official Languages Act forces on us in Quebec; it imposes English.
