I just read an article in La Presse this morning that reported that 60.4% of people speak French at home, at least, in the beautiful Montréal region. You are a great example of multilingualism. That is an important reality that is on the rise.
As part of your mandate at Treasury Board, you must ensure that employees who provide services to citizens can adequately respond to their requests in the official language of their choice, either in English or in French, and this applies across Canada. On the other hand, you need to work to ensure that staff learn both languages well.
Can you help us understand the role that Treasury Board plays in providing this learning capacity across government?
