We agree with the recommendation by the Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada about communities with 400 to 1,600 francophone inhabitants. Capitals should also be designated. Historic francophone communities, which include my native village of Chéticamp, should be protected and the presence of francophone institutions should be used as a basis for determining areas for designation. There are francophone institutions in the 12 areas I just mentioned.
