When we talk about exempting ourselves from the Quebec Charter of the French Language, that is not entirely accurate, since federal obligations are virtually identical to those of the Quebec Charter of the French Language. What changes is the authority that regulates us. It will be the federal Commissioner of Official Languages and the Department of Canadian Heritage rather than the Office québécois de la langue française. However, the obligations are the same as those under the Quebec Charter of the French Language.
