Mr. Chair, I'm in favour of this motion because this matter is a very sensitive one for the Chinese-Canadian community. When something like this happens, it usually, and unfairly, gives Asian faces a bad name, but these instances are also allowed to happen when those responsible are not doing their jobs. The actions of a few should not cast a shadow over an entire community, especially when failures in oversight or in enforcement may have contributed to the problem.
That's why I think we need to get to the bottom of the issue, determine what went wrong, hold those responsible accountable and take the necessary steps to prevent it from happening again. If this kind of thing happens again, it would just divide our communities further and cause conflicts and disagreements within our own communities.
