The directive on security screening is crystal clear that part of even the lowest level of security screening is the verification of the person's identity; the verification of five years of background information, including their employment history, address history and where they've been; and the verification of their education and their professional credentials. If somebody presents themselves as a person who played a role at an organization, that professional credential must be verified. Personal and professional reference checks must be done, plus the financial inquiry and plus a criminal records check. That is the minimum that a department is required to do.
