My first question is for the Université du Québec representatives.
The report of the external advisory panel on the creation and dissemination of scientific information in French, which we are discussing today, clearly states the following: “Sustaining French as a language of research in Canada will require pan-Canadian investments in training a next generation of researchers in French.” However, according to the data you are presenting, the share of federal university research funding going to francophone institutions has dropped from nearly 20% in the early 2000s to less than 15% today.
How do you explain such a significant decline, Mr. Gagnon?
