Because of the unique traumas experienced, they can't be cared for in other domestic and intimate partner violence shelters. They often leave with their children as well. If I remember correctly, Dr. Benn-John said that 50% of the survivors they see have children with their traffickers.
It's really important that we have shelters geared towards trafficking victims.
