The first step is to recognize the skills of military members and assess them.
Post-secondary institutions, particularly colleges, are responsible for shorter training, usually between one and four years, that makes it possible to secure jobs directly related to the most important and in-demand fields in Ontario and Canada. Their expertise is also in assessing skills and shortening the pathway to graduating and accumulating micro-credentials.
Sometimes, veterans are not even looking for a degree, but looking to acquire skills in business administration, for example, or to get support for innovation when they have interesting ideas that meet dual-use needs, such as for the military, and they want to keep the intellectual property.
That's what colleges do when it comes to innovation.
