Madam Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 36, I have the honour on behalf of the constituents of Vegreville to table two petitions in the House today requesting that Parliament continue to reject euthanasia and physician assisted suicide in Canada and that the present provisions of section 241 of the Criminal Code of Canada, which forbids the counselling, procuring, aiding or abetting of persons to commit suicide, be enforced vigorously. The petitioners also request that Parliament consider expanding palliative care so that it would be accessible to all dying persons in Canada.
In the House of Commons on November 21st, 1994. See this statement in context.
