I see the hon. member for Don Valley West rising on a point of order.
Rob Oliphant Liberal Don Valley West, ON
Mr. Speaker, I am not sure it is a point of order or a question of privilege.
There are a large number of members of Parliament in the chamber tonight, and we have a very small number of excellent pages. They are working extremely hard, and I would ask the Speaker to request the clerk to have additional resources for this long night. The reality is they are young people.
I am not expecting you to ask for more pages. There are hundreds of employees who work for the House of Commons, and I would expect there would be adequate resourcing of that, so our pages are not run off their feet all night.
The Deputy Speaker Conservative Bruce Stanton
I thank the hon. member for Don Valley West for his intervention. We will take his suggestion under advisement. All members recognize that unusual circumstances require additional demands on the part of not just the page staff but the clerks at the table, and particularly those clerks who are calling the votes. We will take that under advisement, and see what we can do to ensure members are getting the adequate support they need.
