Mr. Speaker, this is a pretty serious situation. In all the years that I have been in the House, we have always had integrity as the guiding element when it comes to votes.
I cannot recall a situation where we have had members who were clearly contradicting your very clear direction that they must be in the House to hear the question the first time. We have had members very clearly identified by a number of members of the opposition who were not in the House to hear the question the first time.
I suggest that in that situation, we need to have an evaluation of who actually was entitled to vote according to the very clear guidelines that you have always given us. You gave us good and solid guidelines, as we have in precedence here. We proceeded to the vote. A number of members who came late, fortunately, stayed in their seats, on both sides of the House. A number did not.
We need to clarify, through the video that is provided to us. All of these cameras are running throughout the period of our being in the House. Yes, there is one that is broadcast on national television, but all of these cameras are constantly working.
Through you, Mr. Speaker, we can evaluate who came late. Even if they have not functioned on the honour system by standing up and saying they were not entitled to vote, it is up to the Speaker to determine their eligibility in that case. I would ask you to do so.
