Madam Speaker, I rise on a point of order. I know that there is a relaxed dress code that has occurred for some members in the House tonight. I note that the Minister of Innovation is wearing only a T-shirt and what is most offensive is that our colleague from the Toronto area is wearing a Colorado Rockies T-shirt when the Toronto Blue Jays are in spring training.

I would suggest that the Prime Minister may want to talk to the minister about his support for the Blue Jays, but also that his vote not count until he is properly attired in the House.

The Assistant Deputy Speaker Carol Hughes

I want to thank the member for Chilliwack—Hope.

I understand that the hon. member for New Westminster—Burnaby is also rising on the same point of order.

Madam Speaker, we talked about the food that government members had earlier. We also talked about posters. I would now like to remind the House that our rules require members to wear appropriate attire in the House of Commons out of respect for our national Parliament. It is not appropriate for government members to come here dressed in t-shirts and bodysuits.

Please ask members to respect the dignity of our House of Commons.

The Assistant Deputy Speaker Carol Hughes

I appreciate both members' comments. I would like to remind all parliamentarians, be they MPs or ministers, that they must wear a jacket when voting. If they do not, their vote will not count. Votes will be adjusted accordingly.
