They are boasting that they are investing $5 billion in health care infrastructure to build hospitals, when in fact they are doing so over three years, and Quebec is set to receive only about $300 million. What is more, while the system is getting poorer and poorer because the escalator is not indexed to system costs, Ottawa is saying that Quebec will have to kick in $300 million itself.
Considering that the expansion of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital is going to cost between $4 billion and $6 billion, this investment, which is for all projects from coast to coast to coast, is just a drop in the bucket.
