Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to have the opportunity to present a petition today on behalf of mothers and fathers in Regina and southern Saskatchewan who are concerned about the rising price of baby formula.
The price of Similac has doubled in the last two years. That represents an expense of approximately $400 per month for mothers who are unable to breastfeed. The petitioners call for a parliamentary committee to study the root cause of the recent price increase, whether it be tariffs, price-fixing, government regulations or anything else, and for the committee to make recommendations to keep baby formula affordable and available to Canadians to ensure the health and well-being of infants and mothers.
I am pleased to have the opportunity to present this petition today in the House of Commons.
