Mr. Speaker, Conservatives very much believe that platforms need to be held accountable. For too long, they have been left to exist according to their own rules.
The government has been in power for 11 years. The Liberals had come to the table with several pieces of legislation before this that were turned down by the Canadian public because they got it wrong. I think that within Bill C-34, they have brought forward the commission as their answer to holding platforms accountable.
There absolutely needs to be a body, a regulator, that brings about that accountability. In terms of the scope of authority given to that commission, I think there are big questions pertaining to Bill C-34. I look forward to diving deep into those.
