Madam Speaker, I am presenting a petition this afternoon from some of my constituents with respect to Canada Post and the decision by the Liberal government to axe long-treasured postal services, eliminating jobs, eliminating door-to-door delivery and lowering mail delivery.
The petitioners are calling upon the government to make the details public, because none of them are public. In particular, they highlight in their petition that the cuts are going to hurt seniors and disabled Canadians in particular, who represent 40% of the population, as well as rural, remote and indigenous communities. Four million households will also lose door-to-door delivery over the next three to five years.
The petitioners are calling upon the Liberal government to stop the postal service cuts and to immediately launch a fully transparent public mandate review of Canada Post that allows all stakeholders to provide meaningful input.
